Our verdict

The OMODA C5 is the better all-round buy for most UAE shoppers. Its base Comfort trim costs AED 69,900, about AED 9,100 less than the CX-3's 'from' price of AED 79,000. It is also the bigger car (4,400 mm long against 4,275 mm), with more equipment: 12.3-inch twin screens on LUX and Sport, heated and ventilated seats on higher trims, and a broad driver-assistance list. The base trim has only 4 airbags, while LUX and Sport have 6. The Mazda CX-3 suits city drivers who value sharp handling, KODO styling and the Mazda badge. It is quicker to 100 km/h (8.3 s against 9.9 s), but reviewers criticise its tight rear seat, small boot and firm ride. Warranty terms aren't published for either car, so confirm them with the dealer. Choose the C5 for space and value, or the CX-3 for driving feel.
